Step 3

Order

Sort it into Now, Later, and Let Go, so you only hold what matters now.

You've emptied your head. You've named what you're building. Now we take that full list and run every single thing on it through your sentence. And we sort it into three piles. Only three. Now, Later, and Let Go.

Now is the short list. The few things that actually matter for the business you named, the things that move you forward right away. And I mean short. If your Now pile has fifteen things in it, it's not a Now pile, it's your whole list wearing a disguise. Be strict about this, because a short Now list is the entire point.

Later is real, but not yet. These are things that matter, or might, but they don't need your attention right now. You are allowed to look at something real and important and say, not now. It stays on the list. You just get to stop carrying it in the front of your mind.

Let Go is the pile we never give ourselves. The idea that was never really yours. The advice that doesn't fit the business you named. The thing you've felt guilty about for a year that, looked at squarely, you are just never going to do, and that's okay. Crossing those off is not giving up. It's giving yourself your attention back.

That giant, heavy, always-running list gets cut down to the few things that are actually yours to hold right now. Everything else is still accounted for. Nothing is lost. It's just no longer sitting on your chest. This is Decision Relief. Not doing more. Deciding less, on purpose, in order.

A gentle reminder

Later and Let Go are not procrastination. They are decisions. Real ones. Maybe the most important ones you'll make in this whole process.

We're taught that a good business owner does more, adds more, says yes more. So choosing to put something down can feel like failing. It isn't. Deciding what not to do right now is exactly how you free up the room to do anything well. As you sort, watch for the guilt that says everything belongs in Now. Notice it, and put the thing in Later anyway. Be a little braver than feels comfortable.

Now / Later / Let Go

Take your list from Step 1. For each item, ask: does this serve the business I named, and does it need me right now?

If NOW has more than about five things, move the weakest ones to Later. Be braver than feels comfortable. Nothing is lost, it is just set down.
